Long Eaton District Scouts took over the site of the old Three Counties Sailing Club. A rowing boat and a few old canoes were obtained and water activities started |

The old hut was pulled down one weekend. Its replacement was a wooden hut which used to be the GPO sorting office at Heanor. Building the foundations and erecting the new hut took six months |

A new water supply was created with a pipe laid under the river from a header tank on the north bank |
